My Philosophy on Education

Ms. Bailey
“Education in the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world.
 - Nelson Mandela

Erin Bailey grew up surrounded by vineyards in Napa, California, about an hour North of San Francisco. She graduated from Boston University with a B.S. in Film and Television and a minor in Spanish. During her time at college she sang in an acapella group, as well as performed in several on-campus theater productions.

After graduating she moved to New York City where she worked at MTV Networks in Times Square for two years before returning to school for a graduate degree in English Education at Teachers College at Columbia University. She spent her first year teaching in New York City before heading abroad to Mexico to teach at an international school in Torreon in the state of Coahuila where she continued to hone her skills in Spanish.

Upon returning to the U.S. after 2 years abroad, she worked at a charter school in Northeast Denver before finding herself at Skinner. She is excited to be starting her 2nd year at Skinner and her 7th year teaching middle school. She is also taking on the challenge of coaching the drama program this year and is excited to implement our new language arts curriculum.

In her free time she enjoys being active and spending time outside running, skiing,  hiking, and biking. She also enjoys cooking, reading, traveling, and spending time with friends and family, including her dog, Brooklyn. Her favorite books are The Book Thief by Zusak, 1984 by Orwelland The Great Gatsby by Fitzgerald. This is her 4th year living in Denver and she enjoys this city very much for it's great food and music scene, as well as the endless opportunity to get out and connect with nature!
